Victor Coussy is a French master's student from Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer (IUEM) at Brest. He studied marine environmental chemistry. In order to finish the master's degree, he is doing a 6-month internship at QUIMA group (IOCAG-ULPGC).
Victor is studying the iron-binding ligands in the Atlantic sector of the Southern Ocean (Scale Cruise) with our colleague Aridane G. González. At the same time, he is learning about different methods for Fe determination in seawater with some QUIMA members such as David González, Veronica Arnone, Magdalena Santana and Melchor González.
Victor wrote these sentences for our blog:
The interest of my research is to improve our knowledge about the seasonality of iron-binding ligands in this sector of the Southern Ocean. Winter data from the Southern Ocean are rare due to the difficulty of sampling, which is why they are so interesting.
This experience is very personally enriching. It is allowing me to join a different culture, with new people and a fresh work environment. I find a new family in the QUIMA team, so I want to thank all its members for welcoming me.
